Stephen spends a lot of time out on the pitch. He runs a five-week tag rugby course with 5th and 6th classes in twelve different primary schools during the academic year, as well as facilitating sports hall sessions with Solas Project's after schools clubs once a week. His own love of sports along with a Level 1 coaching certificate from the Football Association of Ireland make him the perfect candidate to run the Solas Sports programmes. In addition, Stephen leads the teen mentoring programme, Step Up.
Stephen is passionate about seeing Dublin's youth realise their potential and feels honoured to be part of this community. He enjoys interacting with people and takes every opportunity to speak positive words into others' lives. Before joining Solas Project in 2012, he worked in a homeless hostel for nine years. His experiences there were influential, motivating him to help others avoid a life of homelessness and addiction.
Stephen grew up in Lucan. Outside of work, he enjoys watching movies, playing football, spending time with friends and playing guitar. With two older brothers and an older sister, he has six nephews and nieces under the age of sixteen. He loves Dublin for its small-town feel and proximity to peaceful green fields, as well as the humour of its continuously inventive people!
