Sydney joined us as a youth worker on the Rua Dublin 8 team in July 2024. Previously a social worker in a men’s prison facility, her experience working with incarcerated individuals and supporting those re-entering society from prison shaped her passion for early intervention. In her own words:
“I have witnessed the barriers that criminal justice involved individuals face and I am passionate about both bringing awareness to these barriers and helping to break them down. I love that in this role, I am able to advocate for young people while also helping them find and use their own voice.”
Sydney also brings experience from working in transitional housing, assisting individuals recently released from prison. She holds a BA in Global Justice and Human Rights from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, and an MA in Comparative Criminology from Maynooth University. Originally from the United States, outside of work Sydney enjoys trying new restaurants, going to charity shops, and planning her next holiday.
