Step Up is our one-to-one mentoring programme—support begins as young people transition from primary to secondary school and continues right up to 6th year.
Set up in 2011 to target first year students, Step Up has continued to grow and is now comprised of young people from 1st to 6th year. Step Up runs four evenings a week.
Our teen mentoring programme is based on the belief that in order to tackle educational disadvantage, young people need both academic support and encouragement in their personal development. This includes a focus on self-worth and confidence in their own abilities. We believe if teens are empowered to make good life choices and take responsibility for their own education, they will attend school and participate more, giving them the ability to reach their full potential.
