Darby joined Solas Project in September 2023 in the role of Communications and Team Support. Her duties include a range of tasks including social media, website updates, report designs, and the occasional support at various Solas@School programmes (although her tag rugby skills need some work).

Originally from Canada, Darby moved to Ireland to complete a Master’s in Graphic Design Practice at TU Dublin. She also holds an Honours Degree in Art and Design. Prior to moving to Ireland, Darby worked for four years as a youth worker in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. In her own words:

“Coming from a background in youth work, I have seen the impact that just one positive person can make in a young person’s life. It is a real privledge to be able to support the work of Solas Project and I am deeply passionate about using my creative skills to help share the stories of resilient young people with care and respect.”

Outside of work, Darby can be found roaming the art galleries and charity shops of Dublin.
