Social Entrepreneurs Ireland - Building an Inclusive Recovery

Last week, our Head Gardener (CEO) - Graham Jones had the opportunity to speak at Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Impact Series on 'Building an Inclusive Recovery'.

Graham highlighted how 'We are calling for investment in education, the widest definition of education'.

Along with Sr Stan (Focus Ireland), Elizabeth Waters (Virtual Community College), Lynn Ruane (President Elect TCD Students' Union) and TD Kevin Humphreys in the beautiful surroundings of Smock Alley, Darren Ryan (CEO of SEI) hosted a healthy debate on how we can ensure recovery in Ireland means recovery for all.

Check out the highlights below; We look forward to sharing Grahams full talk shortly!

Solas Project Team Day Out

With the children on midterm break from school, we took the opportunity to have a staff day out and act like big kids ourselves for a day!

The 'selfie' stick was out in force yesterday as the team here at Solas Project enjoyed a fun-filled day out together.

We started our day with a photo scavenger hunt in Tallaght where each team had a list of unusual photo opportunities to try and get within half an hour. Some of these included making a human pyramid with your team and acting out scenes from movies so needless to say we looked a little bit crazy running around!

After that, we all went on to play Bubble Football which was amazing fun. There were some bumps and tumbles along the way but we all thankfully made it out in one piece (just about!) and with smiles on our faces.

It was most definitely a day to remember!

Solas @ School

Our Solas @ School programme is made up of: Solas Sports, Solas College & Solas Business.  All with the aim of working in collaboration with schools and local corporate volunteers to provide extra support to our young people.

A kind word, an extra word of encouragement or just a good laugh are all ways our volunteers help us to deliver the best programmes we can.

Solas @ School ensures young people are motivated, equipped to make good life choices and contribute positively to society.

Hilton Hotels go bowling!

We were delighted when our Charity Partners Hilton Hotel asked if they could arrange a fun afternoon out for 'The Club'. 13 staff members from the Hilton Hotels took 44 of our young people for an afternoons bowling in Tallaght.

On arrival there was already alot of fierce competition between the children (even more so the adults!), it was great to see all the Hilton crew get stuck in and play on teams with them all, giving tips and the odd heckle!

We took advantage of the sunshine and had a picnic outside afterwards and everyone was delighted to receive a goody bag from our Hilton friends.

Providing encouragement and support is to our young people is what our Club is all about & we are so thankful to all of the Hilton staff for taking the time to get to know our amazing kids and look forward to seeing you back again for the rematch!

Thank you all so so much, certainly a day to remember!
